Central Iowa Symphony (operating name of Central Iowa Symphony Association, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit) is headquartered in Ames, Iowa, and cisymphony.org is our official website. We rehearse and perform most of our concerts at the Ames City Auditorium, unless otherwise specified.
Central Iowa Symphony History
CIS was formed in Sept 1987, and grew out of the Octagon Orchestra.
Concert Conversations (pre-concert talks) began in 1999, and were held in the Ames City Council Chambers.
The first CIS Summer Pops concert was held in the summer 2000.
